What is Time Management?
It seems that there is never enough time in the day. But, since we all get the same 24 hours, why is it that some people achieve so much more with their time than others? The answer lies in good time management! Don’t depend on the thoughts; “I need more time”. There are only 24 hours in each day. You can’t make it 25 or 26. You just have to plan your activities very well so as to achieve the expected things with the natural time limit.
Time management is the act or process of planning and exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency or productivity. The highest achievers manage their time exceptionally well.
Good time management requires an important shift in focus from activities to results: being busy isn’t the same as being effective. So it’s far better to learn how to work intelligently, and to use leverage to achieve more with your time and resources. This will increase your productivity – and help you find extra time to do other things. Don’t spend time. It’s very precious – utilize it constructively.
When we want to get more done, many of us simply work longer hours, move deadlines around, and multitask. Although these strategies can provide some short-term relief, they aren’t sustainable in the long term. Pretty soon, this approach becomes a way of life, leading to high levels of stress and eventually, poor productivity.
A good time management system is a designed combination of processes, tools, techniques, and methods, some of which are Goal Setting, Scheduling, Prioritization, Reduction of time spent on non-priorities, Create a “To Do” list and using a time management application.
